This morning I went out onto the balcony out of habit… and I noticed something terrifying in the wall – something moving inside it. At that moment, I was overcome with real fear, especially when I realized what it could be.😒😲

I went out onto the balcony early in the morning almost on autopilot – to open the window, to get some air, to wake up.
And then my gaze seemed to get stuck on the wall.

There was something there.

Something moving inside her.

At first I didn't understand what I was seeing, but my body reacted faster than my mind. A wave of real, primal fear washed over me – the kind that tightens my chest and makes my heart pound in my ears.

The movement was slow and strange, as if the wall had a life of its own. My first thought was a shadow. Then a snake. My hands sweated, my breathing became ragged, and my legs seemed to turn to stone. I stood still and watched, not even blinking.

The more I stared, the clearer it became that this was not a snake. The movements were not smooth, but jerky, jerky, almost helpless. It was as if something was trying to crawl forward inside the wall, but its thin tail remained outside.

The absurd thought flashed through my mind that it was a huge creature with a thin tail.

Fear mixed with disgust and intense anxiety. I felt like I had seen something I shouldn't have. I wanted to scream and just walk away, to forget that this had ever happened.

With trembling legs I approached.

Then I realized the truth – the creature was stuck in a narrow crack in the wall. Neither forward nor backward.

And in that moment, fear suddenly turned into something else.

It was a skink. A real, live lizard.

She struggled, trying to grab hold of it with her little paws, but she had no strength. I could see her getting tired, her tail twitching desperately. Something inside me shrank – fear gave way to pity.

I gathered my courage, took a deep breath, and very carefully helped her free herself. My heart was beating wildly, but my hands weren't shaking as much as I expected.

As soon as he got out, the skink froze for a second...
Then it disappeared in a flash, as if it had never been there.

Later I found out that skinks are not dangerous to humans. They are not venomous, they are not aggressive, and they only bite if they are very scared or caught roughly. Usually they just try to run away and hide.

And as strange as it may sound, after all this horror, I felt calm.

My fear was gone.
What remained was the feeling that I had done something right.
