Believe it or not, the internet can indeed be a force for good.
Take Kelli Tarin, for instance. When she encountered a possible pest problem, she reached out to Facebook for assistance. As a mother of three, she received a flood of comments, from those eager to help to others simply wanting to stay informed about her situation.
Ultimately, she discovered the solution, but not before sharing a hearty laugh.

In August 2023, Tarin posted in the Homemaking Tips Facebook group seeking advice from fellow members.
Having recently moved into a rental home in west Texas, her family stumbled upon something that had her frequently reaching out to the landlord and every pest control service she could think of.
“Does anyone know what this could be? I’ve found two piles of these, only in my daughter’s room. I clean it almost daily. This happened so quickly,” she wrote, sharing a photo of what she described as resembling “coffee grounds.”
Her post attracted significant attention, with many trying to help her figure out the issue.
“Set up a camera to see how it’s getting there,” one person recommended.
“I can’t say for sure, but if there are little ‘flying ants,’ they might be a type of termite. I had them in my first house as an adult, and they would appear, and I’d vacuum them up, only for them to come back again,” another user suggested.

In the meantime, another individual simply remarked that it was “rat poop.”
As suggestions kept pouring in, Tarin made updates to her original post.
She mentioned that for now, she wasn’t allowing her daughter to sleep in her bedroom.
“We contacted TWO pest control companies yesterday. Both of them stated they had never encountered anything like this before. Ever,” she wrote. “If it were termites, they mentioned that the droppings or whatever they leave behind would look completely different. What’s left is actually crunchy. Almost resembling seeds. It’s quite odd.”
As Tarin considered the potential pests – bats, roaches, and mice – she logically detailed why none of them fit the bill. While she found the idea of mice being the cause “believable,” she was certain that the clusters of brown bits were not mouse droppings.
Despite having pest control and her landlord inspect her property, it wasn’t until she came across a comment on her Facebook post that she started to reevaluate things a bit more closely.

I read a comment from someone who mentioned that their kids’ lavender bear had burst open and revealed what was inside. Sure enough, when I gathered the toys from here, I found a lavender blush bear among the pile.
Tarin picked up the bear and instantly discarded it, thinking it was “infested.”
However, curiosity got the better of her, and she took a closer look at the bear. The stuffed toy had a hole in it.
“I emptied out the contents, and there were these beads inside!!! I have been laughing for 30 minutes. Just imagine my relief.”
Oh my goodness. What a wild story!
My Stepmom Smashed My Late Mom’s Treasured Crystal Set to Pieces – She Had No Idea She Was the One Being Tricked

When my stepmother shattered my late mother’s precious crystal set just weeks before my wedding, it felt like the air had been punched out of me. She stood there with a smug, satisfied smirk, as if she had finally erased the last trace of my mom from my life. She had no idea what was about to happen.
