Constipation can also be treated with natural solutions. A dietician reveals three remedies you can use. These are foods you already have in your kitchen. No need to go far.
Constipation is a difficult intestinal disorder to manage on a daily basis. This condition is often accompanied by abdominal pain of varying intensity. To get rid of it, there are medications, but also natural solutions. Dietitian Flore Dumas, better known as @happydiet.therapy, suggests discovering three of them. These are foods, and unlike psyllium, which we discussed in a previous article, they are more readily available because they are already in our kitchens.
1. Pour the old gel into the intestine, use the kiwi
The dietician explains that it is “rich in fiber, especially soluble fiber.” This is an essential nutrient for fighting the disease because “soluble fiber forms a gel in the intestines that facilitates bowel movements.” She adds that the presence of actinidin in kiwi is very important. Indeed, “it’s an enzyme that helps break down proteins, which promotes their digestion.”
2. Coffee to stimulate the intestines
The healthcare professional admits that it's not her favorite food for relieving constipation. For this reason, she advises against overconsumption. She acknowledges, however, that caffeine is a central nervous system stimulant. This caffeine can increase the stimulation of intestinal muscles and promote peristalsis, that is, bowel movements. Furthermore, caffeine also has a diuretic effect, promoting water absorption in the urine rather than in the colon. As a result, it leaves enough water for stool formation.
3. Vitamin C for connective tissues
“It will support the immune system,” the dietician begins. She indicates that “you can consume up to 6 grams per day, but you shouldn’t exceed this dose.” Finally, she explains the benefits of vitamin C. “It promotes the formation of collagen, which is an important protein for the connective tissues found in the intestinal walls.” She adds that vitamin C “is a very important antioxidant and anti-inflammatory. A healthy gut is a well-functioning gut.”
To put this advice into practice, you should therefore favor foods rich in vitamin C. You will find a high content of it in citrus fruits, red fruits, cabbage, spinach, broccoli or peppers.
