8 things you should never wash in the washing machine
| No. | Subject | Why machine washing is risky |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Sports shoes | While rubber sneakers still hold up, sneakers don't. They are damaged by hot water, intensive spinning, and drying; decorative elements may peel off. |
| 2 | Baseball caps and brimmed hats | After a cycle in the washing machine, these accessories will almost certainly lose their shape and presentable appearance. |
| 3 | Coats and suits | It's not worth washing them yourself. Take them to a dry cleaner - it's cheaper than buying new clothes after a "ruinous" wash. |
| 4 | Wool and cashmere clothing | It does not tolerate high temperatures and aggressive spinning. It is better to rinse it by hand in lukewarm water with a gentle detergent. |
| 5 | Orthopedic pillows | Experiments here are not recommended. Washing is only allowed if the manufacturer explicitly allows it and there is a symbol on the label. |
| 6 | Clothes/textiles stained with animal fur | In the washing machine, the fur will not be removed, but will stick to other clothes. It can also clog the filter and drum and damage the machine. |
| 7 | Bulky objects | Do not load items heavier than the manufacturer's recommended load. Remember that water-soaked textiles become even heavier; the motor may not be able to spin them. |
| 8 | Clothes decorated with fluff | Fluffy appliqués will not survive the “freshening” attempt – they will look bloated or fall off. Rinse them carefully by hand. |
