Acosta was admitted to the San Ignacio Hospital in Bogotá , from where he was transferred to another location for the procedure. This Friday, dozens of fans and supporters of the capital city team gathered at the hospital entrance to say goodbye and accompany him during the procedure.
” I give thanks to life, to death, to all the blows . I give thanks to all the obstacles I had to overcome to get here. I give thanks to this illness because I learned to value my family, because I learned to forgive my family, because I learned to forgive those who hurt me.”
As he recounted in a social media broadcast, several years ago he suffered a traffic accident that left him in a wheelchair. Later, during an outing in Melgar, he contracted a bacterial infection that led to osteomyelitis.
After five years battling the disease , the treatments proved ineffective, and the cancer began to spread to her head.
