This morning I went out into the yard—just to water the flowers and feed the cat. The day was going on quite normally until I noticed two strange objects by the fence. They looked like large cones or cocoons, covered in thick brown scales.
I approached them carefully, but I didn't dare touch them—they looked alive.
This morning I found something unusual in my yard: they suddenly started moving, and when I finally realized what it was, I was simply speechless with shock.
My first thought was that they might be some kind of snakes curled up in a ball. Then it crossed my mind that they might be turtles without shells or even something alien.
I was about to call the neighbor to come take a look when one of the "balls" moved slightly.
I pulled back sharply, my heart leaping into my throat. And then I realized what it really was... Details in the first comment
Both objects began to slowly unfold. From within, a snout emerged with tiny eyes and a long snout.
I stood still, unable to move. These were pangolins—live, rare, covered in shining armor, as if from another world. One carefully extended its long tongue toward an anthill, while the other began sniffing under the leaves, searching for food.
They moved so quietly and gracefully, like creatures who knew there was nothing to fear. After a few minutes, they both curled up again and froze—like statuettes.
I stood there for a long time, watching them, realizing that I had become an unwitting witness to something truly amazing—two of the rarest creatures on the planet were hiding in my own backyard.

Real live pangolins - one of the most unique mammals in the world, covered with hard, horn-like scales, similar to armor. They are not dangerous, they do not bite or attack. When in danger, they simply curl up into a tight ball and thus fully protect themselves.
These creatures are often called "scaly anteaters" because they feed on ants and termites, maintaining the natural balance. The only threat they face comes from humans - poachers hunt them for their scales and meat.
I watched as the two pangolins slowly moved towards the fence and disappeared behind it, leaving behind only the soft rustling of the grass.
